The hesitation I describe here occurs upon initial entry to ANY folder after an MP restart. Since the period of hesitation (steps 5 and/or 12) appears to be directly proportional to (number-of-images-in-folder) TIMES (average-image-size), my guess is that MP is recreating thumbs when it doesn't have to. Again observe either sluggish behavior or complete "white out" of main menu.
